Athens Arts League is a nonprofit art organization that supports artists, promotes art education, and brings cultural events to Athens and Limestone County. Previously known as Art on The Square, Athens Arts League has evolved to meet a variety of artistic needs in the community by hosting cultural events and workshops, managing High Cotton Arts, a downtown art incubator, renovating the Scout House into a music venue, and collecting art supply donations for city, county, and private schools in Athens and Limestone County.
High Cotton Arts at 103 West Washington Street offers affordable work space for up to nine artists in a creative environment. There are exhibit spaces and educational opportunities for emerging artists and art lovers. High Cotton Arts is open to the public on Wednesdays 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, Thursdays 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, Fridays 10 a.m to 4 p.m, and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact us for more information about art classes, artist display space and studio rentals.
Cotton Alley is an outdoor art space located behind High Cotton Arts next to the historic cotton warehouse on Green Street. Athens Arts League leases the property from H.C. Blake and Company, and is turning this overgrown lot into a downtown venue dedicated to art education and art events.
Scout Music House is a historic 1930s-era structure on Washington Street owned by the City of Athens and leased to Athens Arts League. The City of Athens has challenged Athens Arts League to raise funds to renovate the iconic structure and re-purpose it into a music venue that supports music education in Athens and Limestone County, offers music events, and honors Limestone County musical heritage.
This is wonderful! Thank you for doing this for all of us!
